You’re a person who thinks outside the box. So why work with a teacher who puts you in one?
Doing things differently
I’m here to tell you that one-size-fits-all language courses don't work. So if you’ve spent years following a curriculum and feeling disappointed with your progress, it’s not your fault.
Neurodivergence calls for a properly personalised approach, and when you work with me that’s exactly what you’ll get.
I don't follow a textbook. I don't fix stuff that’s ‘wrong’. And I won't make you join a group.
Instead, I design every course from scratch, so it suits your learning style, challenges you in exactly the right way and allows you to dig deep into the language.
I provide regular voicenote support to help keep you on track - and be accountable for your learning.
Imagine how it would feel to…
Express your true self and participate confidently in conversations that matter.
Be comfortable to experiment with English in a calm and inclusive space where you can safely make mistakes.
Explore language in more depth, so you don’t just use it but really understand it.
Work with a teacher who fully understands you and your English learning needs.
Be supported and find ease beyond the online classroom.
I’m all about growth over grammar
Progress isn’t about mastering the third conditional. It's about exploring topics that you really care about and using language to express what you really mean. If it’s meaningful then it’s memorable. And therefore easier to learn.
I understand that your current English level doesn’t reflect your true potential, and I'll build a course that frees you from thoughts like these.
And if you think that a wonderful connection isn’t possible online, then you’ve not been looking in the right place.
You’re a neurodivergent professional who has a million thoughts racing through your head.
You need a teacher who can help drown out the noise.
Hello, I’m Tree Blackmore
My why
As someone who has studied French, German and Spanish, I know how hard it is to be yourself in another language. And let's face it - traditional language courses don't help.
Every learner is different, and the generic nature of most English courses mean that many people get left behind. What about the people who don’t want to join a group?
After spending years sitting through group classes and getting very little from them, I knew I couldn't be the only one feeling overwhelmed by all the noise…
Tinnitus and hyperacusis mean that I often struggle with the audio distractions of group calls and packed classrooms!
While working as a trainer at a language school, I found myself helping teachers, who were working one-to-one, to move away from rigidly following a book that didn’t meet their students’ needs. There was no creativity and no flow.
Incorporating creative, personalised and meaningful activities brought faster progress. And more authentic language.
I realised there was a real need for individual English language courses like this. I’ve since realised I’m really good with people who need a little extra help on their learning journeys!
So I decided to start ELTree to help folk like you explore English on a deeper level, without overwhelm and in a way that makes you feel good.
Here’s why you can trust me
I’ve been working in the world of English Language Teaching for over 25 years and have taught hundreds of adults from all over the world. I’ve spent more time supporting individuals than leading group classes. Teachers, coders, musicians, academics and business owners have been among my clients. I’ve been lucky enough to get inside some brilliant brains.
It’s safe to say that the most wonderful ‘Aha!’ moments happen on my one-to-one courses. I create a warm and welcoming space in which you can grow your English your way.
If you’re the kind of person who needs to know about qualifications, then watch me talk about mine for 30 seconds here.
And when I’m not teaching…
I’m lucky to live near the coast in beautiful Wales, UK.
When I'm not working I like going for a walk with my partner, with a good coffee or a nice pint along the way.
Or watching films - think auteur/queer/foreign language rather than noisy action blockbusters or romcoms. Though these have their place!
I crave the soothing sounds of the sea and love watching our dogs run on the beach. You might find me in the woods waving my microphone around recording birdsong and peering at the trees.
Music is a passion: listening to it, playing it, feeling it.
And whether it’s kitchen karaoke or a rehearsal with the local choir, singing just makes me happy.
Say hello to an English course that’s as unique as you are
You could keep zoning out in group classes designed for neurotypical people.
Or you could work with a teacher who knows how to tailor a course that results in feel-good learning and real-life progress.
